Pohon is available in two different sizes, 100 and 120 cm in diameter. Thus, you can choose according to your space and preferences. Note that the rug is shipped rolled up and may not lie flat immediately after unpacking. But don't worry, over time it will lay itself down. You can speed up the process by placing a heavy object on top.

Main material: Banana Fibre

Our rugs are made from plant fibers. They therefore wonderfully smell and feel like nature.

Banana fibres are the fibres of the layered trunks of agriculturally used banana trees. The intense brown color occurs naturally when the fibres are dried under the sun for about a week. Then the individual strips are rolled into the characteristic, approximately 6 mm thick strands. Only old, dying banana trees are used for this material. This enables these crops to have a second life as a dimensionally stable and robust raw material for many handcrafted baskets here at Soeji.

This rug is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we value fair pay and good working conditions. In the factories from which we purchase our goods, we only work with adult and experienced artisans. No harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. Since all work steps are done by hand, the production process hardly generates any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and permanent personal contact with the companies.
