With our Pisang you have one more practical helper in your house. The rectangular basket is made of sustainable banana fibre and is decorated with lovingly embroidered triangular appliqués made of white cotton. The robust material is extremely stable, so that even heavy loads are no problem for this basket.

We particularly like it as a storage place for cushions or blankets, but it can also play to its strengths as a shelf basket or in the wardrobe to store smaller bits and pieces or your clothes in an orderly fashion. Main material: Banana fibre

Our baskets are made from plant fibers. They therefore wonderfully smell and feel like nature.

Banana fibres are the fibres of the layered trunks of agriculturally used banana trees. The intense brown color occurs naturally when the fibres are dried under the sun for about a week. Then the individual strips are rolled into the characteristic, approximately 6 mm thick strands. Only old, dying banana trees are used for this material. This enables these crops to have a second life as a dimensionally stable and robust raw material for many handcrafted baskets here at Soeji.

This basket is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we value fair pay and good working conditions. In the factories from which we purchase our goods, we only work with adult and experienced artisans. No harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. Since all work steps are done by hand, the production process hardly generates any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and permanent personal contact with the companies.
