Our Sanur raffia cushion is all about bringing a cosy feel to your home. Its classic rectangular shape is perfectly complemented by the eye-catching pom poms. The cushion goes with any interior style thanks to its natural, simple colour, but looks particularly good when you combine it with other accessories and furniture in boho style.
Sanur is made using the elaborate needle-knotting technique. It especially takes a lot of time and dexterity to make the pom-poms: To do this, the raffia fibres are first cut into tiny strips and then knotted into hundreds in the shape of pom-poms. The cushion is filled extra plump with locally sourced cotton and coconut fibre and thus retains its shape over the long term.

Main material: Raffia
Our pillows are made from plant fibers. They therefore wonderfully smell and feel like nature.
Raffia (Corypha utan) occurs naturally in the steppe and forest areas of Southeast Asia. About every two years, the plant renews its leaves and sheds the old ones, which are then collected by humans, dried in the sun for a few days to weeks and processed into wickerwork, depending on the desired degree of browning. The relative rarity and the higher processing effort make this material somewhat more expensive compared to other plant fibers. While it is hardly known in Europe, the material has proven itself with the local population in Southeast Asia in the form of all kinds of everyday objects and is very popular due to its pleasantly soft, but robust nature.

When selecting our local producers, we value fair pay and good working conditions. In the factories from which we purchase our goods, we only work with adult and experienced artisans. No harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. Since all work steps are done by hand, the production process hardly generates any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and permanent personal contact with the companies.
